The Leader

The Leader's real name is Samuel Sterns and he was a high school drop out who mental abilities were radically enhanced after exposure to Gamma radiation.  His mind became a living computer and in some cases the Leader can use his mental power to send a surge of power from his brain which will knock anyone unconscious. The Leader usually searches Hulk out for specific reasons benefitting himself and not so much as to destroy the Hulk.  However, the Leader's measures to get to the Hulk has given TIH some of the biggest and most destructive battles in the series.

Nick Fury & S.H.E.I.L.D

Nick Fury frequents the Hulk with the Hulkbusters and S.H.E.I.L.D. and are hell bent on capturing the Hulk and destroying him.  S.H.I.E.L.D. is a special covert military group that, when involved with the Hulk, is trying to subdue the Hulk after some massive destruction the Hulk might have innocently made.  Nick Fury leads these crusades to find the Hulk and when they do find him the Hulk, of course, just wants to be left alone.  Thus begins the ensuing drama; Nick Fury attacks, Hulk attacks back and asses are kicked...Hulk "just wants to be left alone" and leaps of into the sunset.

Man-Thing

Man-thing lurks in the swamps and from what is seen in TIH he doesn't speak or really have any motivation for his battles with the Hulk except for simple conflict.  However, when these two do run upon each other there is always a good fight to be had.  Man-thing has had only a few limited appearances in the Hulk's storyline but he is a very interesting creature.

Abomination

Abomination, who's real name is Emil Blonsky, was a Russian spy sent to drop in on Bruce's Gamma experiments.  He was accidentally blasted with a shot from one of Bruce's machines, a shot that was twice what Bruce had endured to transform him into the Hulk.  Abomination was therefore much more powerful than the Hulk and only Bruce reversing Abomination's radiation with another one of his invention brought his strength down to a comparable level.  Abomination hold Bruce and the Hulk personally responsible for losing his life and the love of his life and having to wander sewers and the undergrounds.  This hatred for Bruce climaxed in his vengeance for his lost life and love killed Betty Banner.

Super Skrull

Super Skrull is a gamma radiated creature who can take on the feature of the Fantastic Four at will.  This villain really has no motive to fight the Hulk but when these two cross paths it is a hefty battle.  Super Skrull is mostly used as a hired thug to track down the hulk and fight him or keep him occupied for some reason.  Super Skrull is no match for Hulk's strength but his versatilities throw Hulk a tricky battle.

General "Thunderbolt" Ross

General Ross has been not only a pain in the Hulk side but in Bruce's side from the very beginning of the comic book and to this day the two still don't see eye to eye on everything.  Originally Bruce was in love with Ross' daughter Betty and the General wasn't to happy about any man being interested in his daughter much less a weak little frail scientist.  This only escaladed with Bruce being transformed into the Hulk, when Ross made it his life's ambition to bring down the Hulk at any cost.  Many, of the conflict dealing with General Ross deal with the Hulkbusters which he had a big hand in creating.  Ross has been thought to have died and the been brought to life and today his main concern is not so much with the Hulk but trying to bring Betty back to life.

The U-Foes

The U-foes made their first appearance in TIH #254 and had a number of interactions with the Hulk storyline.  The U-foes began as a group of scientist embarking on an outer space expedition that went wrong when the hull of their craft was penetrated by heavy radiation sending it plummeting to earth.  Instead of dieing from this the radiation transformed these scientist into superhumans, with evil intentions.  The U-foes are usually used as muscle for a person who needs a little extra help in subduing the Hulk and one of TIH's most memorable battles was between the Professor and the U-foes in issues #397-401.

Speedfreak

Speedfreak made his first appearance in issue #388 and wreaked havoc on the Hulk with his swift blade wielding action.  This guy is almost a match for the Hulk in that he is so fast the the Hulk can't really do much to stop him and if weren't for the Hulk's incredible regenerative abilities this guy might be able to take him out.  If the Hulk does get his hands on him it's all over.
