Robert
Bruce Banner is a brilliant scientist with a troubled
childhood. Bruce was commissioned by the military to build a
gamma bomb under the supervision of General Ross. Bruce's life
was changed forever after being caught in the middle of the bomb
test, exposing him to massive Gamma radiation. This opened up an
alter-ego known as the Hulk which is spawned from the radiation and
Bruce's troubled childhood, and appears at times of intense
emotion.

General
Ross' daughter and Bruce Banner's object of affection, Betty has
been a strength for Bruce throughout most of his struggle with the
Hulk. She is caught between her father's hatred for Bruce and
the Hulk and trying to find herself in the bizarre life. Betty
and Bruce's life was taking on some normalcy as of late but was
ended tragically with Betty's death. To Bruce she is buried
and gone but General Ross has her body in a secret chamber in a
state of limbo, hoping to find a way to bring her back.

Doctor Leonard Samson |
Doc Samson was exposed to Gamma
radiation, turning his hair green giving him enormous
strength. He is a psychologist trying to open the doors in
Bruce Banner's mind and free him of the Hulk. Doc Samson has
had quite a few battles with the Hulk, almost matching him in
strength. As of late Doc Samson has help the Bruce Banner
confront these entities in his mind allowing a sort of alliance and
state of calm. We have seen many hidden parts of Bruce's life
thanks to Doc Samson's help.

Rick Jones |
You
could say that Rick Jones is the cause of this whole mess. His
first appearance is in TIH #1 when he breaks into the Gamma Bomb
test site on a dare and is barely rescued by Bruce Banner.
Feeling responsible for Bruce's dilemma Rick feels obligated to try
and help Bruce. Rick actually acquires his own entity of the
Hulk when he is thrown in a radiation bath with the Hulk
transferring some of the Hulk into Rick. Latter on Rick meets
Marlo Chandler which he is now married to.

"Thunderbolt" Ross |
General
"Thunderbolt" Ross is the father of Betty Ross and first
appears with Bruce Banner working on the Gamma Bomb. Bruce's
intentions are to build a bomb that destroys property but saves
lives. General Ross sees Banner as weak and hates it even more
that his daughter is infatuated with Bruce. General Ross
spends most of his time chasing after the Hulk in attempt to kill
him. Ross has made many mysterious disappearances and
reappearance and is currently occupied with trying to bring his
daughter back to life.
